This day, established by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and National Day Calendar in 2022, is a time to celebrate the hardworking individuals who are the true heart of the lodging industry.
Hotel employees do so much more than just work in hospitality; they are essential to some of the most memorable moments in our lives. Whether it’s ensuring a seamless wedding reception, making family reunions unforgettable, or providing us a sense of peace and relaxation during vacations, these employees are behind the scenes making these events special. They keep guests safe, serve as the lifeblood of communities, and are a driving force behind the success of America’s travel and tourism industry.
Despite being such a vital part of our communities and most cherished memories, many hospitality workers are navigating a huge challenge, the transition to an increasingly cashless world. Nearly 83 percent of all tips in the US are now cashless, and many hotel workers report seeing a decline in their overall earnings as a result.
